Biodefense Hub
National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility
NBAF is built and managed on a secure site owned by the federal government, located next to K-State’s Biosecurity Research Institute. This state-of-the-art facility serves as a vital national resource, safeguarding the nation’s agriculture, farmers and citizens from the potential devastation caused by severe animal diseases.
Biosecurity Research Institute
The Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) stands as a distinctive biocontainment facility dedicated to research and education, significantly bolstering K-State’s prominence as a national frontrunner in biodefense research. The BRI also played a critical role in the selection of Manhattan as the site for NBAF, given its close alignment with research, education, and training requirements essential to NBAF’s mission and objectives.
K-State Research Park
Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) and KDA Laboratory
Located in the K-State Research Park, the headquarters and laboratory of the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) operate in close partnership with the university, epitomizing a unified commitment to advancing agriculture throughout the state of Kansas. This collaborative endeavor is crucial for fostering agricultural innovation and propelling the agricultural sector forward.
Stormont Vail Health
When Stormont Vail unveiled its 120,000-square-foot medical facility in Manhattan in 2023, it signified a deeper bond between the regional healthcare system and K-State. Beyond offering vital healthcare services to the community, this facility houses dedicated research areas and backs joint clinical research projects.
